Take an aquatic thrill ride on the most popular whitewater
river in the eastern United States. Join with dozens of fellow rafters
as you splash your way through exciting and challenging rapids made
of giant boulders and surging waters. Each raft trip begins with a
dry-land indoctrination into the sport of whitewater rafting by experienced
professional paddlers. As the group descends the river, each set of
rapids is discussed in detail before making the plunge. Your caravan
of rafts will be escorted by a team of kayakers who will guide you
through each rapid as you bob your way downstream.
The entire trip is several miles long and takes usually
4-5 hours to paddle, including stops for a riverside lunch and swimming.
Due to the growing popularity of this water sport, raft launches are
regulated by the state park, so you must have a reservation with one
of the outfitters in Ohiopyle. See the More Information Section at
the back of the book to contact them.
